One of the greatest spectacles in nature is the return of the wild Pacific salmon to their natal rivers to spawn. By the millions they flood into the coast in autumn and in their arduous journey home, they feed almost the entire rainforest world.

Inspired by the makers of the BBC film “The Great Salmon Run / Grizzly Wilderness”, part of the 2009 series “Nature’s Most Amazing Events”, Maple Leaf guest Jacques Record sat by a waterfall that salmon were jumping up, to try to capture their incredible, muscular feats.

We have also included a few others from the series, in recognition of the salmon and Jacques’ dedication to the shots, on his Great Bear Rainforest trip.
