Summary 

Create an exquisite culinary adventure of the highest caliber aboard boutique expedition cruises along the coast in B.C. and Alaska, while exploring its spectacular nature and cultural history. 

Our Company 

Maple Leaf Adventures is a respected marine ecotourism company based in Victoria, BC with over thirty years history operating unique small ship cruises. With a focus on natural and cultural history; we deliver once in a lifetime wilderness and wildlife experiences along the coasts of British Columbia and Alaska.  Our culinary program is second only to nature.   

Our Vessels allow guests to explore the wild spaces of our world in luxury and comfort: 

– SV Maple Leaf: 92-foot schooner  

– MV Swell: 88-foot tug converted to a passenger vessel 

– MV Cascadia: 138-foot expedition-style catamaran 

Our Expedition Season:  April to November, rotation of 21-29 days on/off per shift. 

Our Ideal Candidate 

The Chef aboard our vessels is a creative passionate gourmet with a love for coastal adventure.  Flexibility, great organization, and excellent planning and follow-through are all necessary attributes.  If you thrive in a dynamic working environment, are hardworking, like meeting new people and can produce inspired, creative, delicious and healthy meals in a small ship’s galley, you would make a great addition to our dedicated team.  Maple Leaf Adventures is looking for Chefs to join our crew aboard all our vessels as they sail into the expedition season for 2020 and beyond. 

In addition to having a professional and positive demeanour at all times while engaging with guests and crew, the ideal qualities for our Chefs include: 

-Outstanding culinary skills and experience from luxury private yachts, boutique hotels, private clubs or high-end wilderness resorts; 

-Being flexible and organized with proven ability to anticipate the needs of guests and overall operations 

-A personal interest in the nature and history of the B.C. coast and a spirited sense of adventure. 

What We Require 

-Plan and prepare daily cold and hot breakfast, 2 snacks, plated lunch, and a three-course dinner for: 

* Up to 8 guests and 5 crew aboard SV Maple Leaf; 

* Up to 12 guests and 5 crew aboard MV Swell, or 

* Up to 24 guests and 10 crew aboard MV Cascadia with additional support from a Cook. 

– Ensure special dietary requirements and requests of passengers and crew are adhered to. 

-Adhere to Maple Leaf Adventures policies and protocols for culinary program, purchasing, passenger and crew safety, SOP’s and chain of command. 

Certifications: Foodsafe, Serving it Right, Valid Marine Medical Exam, Domestic Vessel Safety Course, Marine First Aid Course
