Summer Adventures in BC & Alaska
June to August
Summer brings a high-pressure system alone the Pacific Northwest, meaning more consistent weather patterns. Beneath the water’s surface, plankton and krill bloom, inspiring migrations the length of the continent as whales return here to feed. To experience it at all, and to reach the richest areas, you must travel by water, as people have done here for millennia.
The coastal beaches that face toward the open Pacific Ocean stretch on for miles. It’s a true sense of wilderness out here; wolves occasionally make an appearance, the warm currents bring in strange creatures from the deep, and the huckleberries are hanging off the bushes ready to be eaten by roaming bears.
While most of British Columbia’s summer destinations are teeming with tourists, our expeditions offer an alternative escape to areas where you can find solitude in nature.
Summer Highlights
In the height of summer, we explore British Columbia’s wild west coast and Alaska’s sweeping Southeast, far north of the Tofino crowds.
Embark on a Coastal Safari
From the edge of the continental shelf off northwest Vancouver Island to the aptly named Whale Channel on the mainland coast, expeditions take place across one of the richest coastal ecosystems in the world.
Enter the World of Cetaceans
The Inside Passage and outer coast offer peak opportunities to witness spectacular whale behaviors, from humpbacks bubble-net feeding to the playful breach of an orca calf.
Experience Regenerative Travel
We offer human-scale, no-impact ways of exploring the coast, with opportunity to learn about local conservation efforts and connect with Indigenous leaders and scientists along the way.
Discover Alaska’s Wonders
The last frontier—Southeast Alaska is known for its population of brown bears, feeding humpback whales, and tidewater glaciers. We see it all in summer, taking advantage of peak nature and wildlife events.
